Easter Angel

Easter Angel Sebastienne, the cherubim who witnessed the meeting (salubong) of the Risen Christ and Bereaved Mother Mary...

This early morning, my 4 year-old nephew was jumping up and down in the car on the way to church where he played as one of the angels on easter singing Hallelujah!  He had an energy of 4PM at 4AM. He sang at the top of his voice.  The adults were entertained by the sight.  I am sure the heavenly father was jumping for joy.

Before the singing and while waiting for their turn on the scene, firecrackers broke out. It was several in succession which scared my nephew and the other little ones.  He covered his ears and tried to be brave.  But after awhile, from a high platform, he screamed,  "Tita! Tita! Hug me later."  With reassurance that it is just a firecracker and that it is far off, I acknowledged his need.

Every first Saturday of the month, I with the rest of the ministry, are faced with the same request.  Perhaps not with tangible words such as my nephew's but with lonely, teary eyes from elders yearning for affection.  This is the sight at Anawim, Home for Abandoned Elders.  Yes, you read it right!  Abandoned by the very people they trusted, adored, sacrificed for and have shared their lives with.  I could not comprehend but I stopped finding a reason or even an excuse...
This Easter, once again, we are reminded of Jesus' promise that we will never stand alone.  Jesus came down from His throne to be one of us.  He wore the crown of thorns so that we may have a crown of life.  May we do the same promise for those who are in need.  Make the abandoned elders part of our lives.  Join us for a pilgrimage at Anawim in Montalban every first Saturday.

Our pilgrimage does not stop at Bisita Iglesia on holy week or a visit to holy land.  It continues on...

Email activeculture@Ymail.com for the complete details of the pilgrimage.  Be an angel for the abandoned elders...
