Earth Day 2011 is an important celebration because it is an auspicious time to once again gather and reconnect with each other and with the Creator Spirit to guide us and heal the land upon which we tread. Moreover, Earth Day 2011 falls on a Good Friday which is an important celebration for our Catholic and some Protestant brethren.
The celebration of SANDIWANG: Isang Diwa sa Pagdiriwang para sa Kalikasan has become an important celebration for Earth Day year after year. It is a major interreligious celebration for Mother Earth having a grand ecumenical service which shall highlight our penance for our indiscriminate use of natural resources and for the destruction that has resulted there from. Hence, this year’s formal celebration will be on 24 April 2011, Easter Sunday, 7 AM at the Peacebell, Quezon City Memorial Circle.
We see once again the big role that SANDIWANG has in the celebration of Earth Day. It will start ceromonious Ringing of the Peacebell, by Hon QC Mayor Bistek Bautista and EDNP President (and former DENR Secretary) Bebet Gozun, as a sign of convergence of the various faiths. Followed by a fun and "tricky" Egg Hunting & Painting for the very young ones and On-the-spot craypas and spray painting with a theme of Water, Air, Earth. It will also be a whole-day event that will feature organic health and wellness. Isang makakalikasang pagbati!
Participating Organizations: Holistic Events and Relations Business Services, Philippine Wood Producers Association, KontraGapi, Interfaith groups, Ways to Happiness by Ms. Julieta Navarrete, Zero Waste movement, Hilot Pinoy, Sanghabi, Novadeci/Nesca Elderly & Seniors Association, H-World United Nations Military Philippine Government, Hilot sa Kalikasan (Ms. Josie Tabligan(Emcee), Earth Dance --Ms. Grace Odal-Devora who will lead the Vortex Dancing starting at 3PM.
